Job Title: Performance Specialist

As a Performance Specialist, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality, consistency, and usability of our systems. Your primary focus will be on developing and executing performance test cases for all applications using chosen scripting languages in collaboration with developers.

About the Role:
  • Develop and execute performance test cases to ensure timely and efficient delivery of high-quality software products.
  • Adhere to performance best practices and coding standards to ensure tests are reusable, scalable, and maintainable.
  • Collaborate with Test team members (Test Analysts, Performance Specialists) on reviewing test cases for performance readiness.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines that provide real-time feedback on application quality.
  • Work with the performance lead and technical teams to identify performance enhancement opportunities in environment setup, configurations, and deployments.
  • Produce comprehensive performance test reports, including defects, to ensure transparency and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Triage performance test failures with test team members.
  • Contribute actively to the Test Community of Practice, sharing advancements and best practices in test performance.
  • Champion a 'Performance First' approach to testing, collaborating with developers and test analysts.
  • Ensure adherence to Organisation Testing practices.
  • Provide on-call assistance and onboarding support as required.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and execute performance test cases to ensure timely and efficient delivery of high-quality software products.
  2. Adhere to performance best practices and coding standards to ensure tests are reusable, scalable, and maintainable.
  3. Collaborate with Test team members (Test Analysts, Performance Specialists) on reviewing test cases for performance readiness.
  4. Pair with test team members to triage performance test failures.
  5. Be a key contributor in Test Community of Practice, sharing and introducing advancements and better practices in test performance.
  6. Champion a performance First approach to testing, while working with developers and test analysts to achieve this.
  7. Adherence to Organisation Testing practices.
  8. Provide on call assistance as required.
  9. Provide onboarding support as required.
Qualifications, Education & Training Requirements:
  • A degree relating to the Information Technology field from a recognised tertiary institution or other qualifications or experience considered acceptable by Auto and General.
Experience:
  • Min. 3 years as an performance engineer.
  • Demonstrated sound communication skills, including with technical staff, end-users and management.
  • Demonstrated experience in Java, JavaScript and TypeScript.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of performance frameworks - Cypress, Playwright, Selenium, and others.
  • Experience with CI/CD and version control platforms - Bamboo, Bitbucket and GitLab/HUB.
  • Experience building / extending performance test frameworks.
  • Demonstrated sound skills in problem solving, time and resource management, and have the ability to work independently and with limited supervision.

  • Service virtualisation.
