Job Opportunity:

This is an exciting opportunity for a professional to join our team as an Assistant Director, Exhibitions. The role involves leading the production and delivery of permanent and temporary physical and online exhibitions that showcase Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' rights, knowledge, cultures, and stories.

About the Role:

  • Manage and lead a team in the development, management, and preservation of the AIATSIS collection.
  • Develop and implement strategies for the engagement of donors and depositors to expand the collection.
  • Curate domestic and international display and exhibitions (online and physical).
  • Implement collection care practices and facilitate loans.
  • Manage the rights and policy environment of the AIATSIS collection.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Proven experience in exhibition curation, management, and delivery.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories.
