The role of Field Ecologist is a key part of our Upper Northern Hardwoods team, working on a 2-year max term contract.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct timely and accurate ecology surveys in the upper north coast of NSW, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage survey data and related systems, producing reports to support operational plans.

Requirements:

  • Sound knowledge of forest flora, fauna, and habitat, particularly threatened species and communities relevant to eastern Australia.
  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications, experience, and/or training.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in flora and fauna survey techniques, habitat assessments, and equipment use/maintenance.
  • Knowledge of forest management, including silviculture, fire management, and harvesting.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, report writing, and communication skills.
  • Proven organisational skills, ability to plan and prioritise work, meet standards, and deadlines.
  • Knowledge and understanding of field ecology.
