Industry Capability Specialist

The role of Industry Capability Specialist involves supporting the development of strategies to enhance self-reliance and supply chain resilience within the Australian Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) Enterprise.

This position will collaborate with stakeholders to develop requirements for industry work packages, negotiate contracts, and manage the full lifecycle of subcontracts. The successful candidate will also support the development of business cases for investment in industry capability development and create sourcing and subcontract program management strategic plans that address overall program capture needs and execution.

  • Support the development of an Industry Capability strategy for the GWEO enterprise to meet project goals.
  • Lead the negotiation of contracts for design, development, and qualification of Australian Industry products and materials.
  • Collaborate with program stakeholders to develop statement(s) of requirements for industry work packages.
  • Lead the full subcontract lifecycle, including make or buy decisions, requirements development, requests for proposals, subcontract negotiation and award, and subcontract management.
  • Support the development of business cases for the investment in industry capability development.
  • Develop sourcing and subcontract program management strategic plans that address overall program capture needs and execution.

Key skills required for this role include:

  • Significant experience across relevant disciplines such as procurement, supply chain, contracting, and industry capability development.
  • Professional experience working within a Defence or complex project environment.
  • A background in, or sound knowledge of, Defence capability development processes and Defence acquisition practices.
