Job Title: Nursing Professional Development Practitioner

The role of the Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Practitioner involves facilitating learning, promoting change, and mentoring individuals to achieve desired outcomes. This position requires continuous assessment of opportunities and challenges within and externally to the organization.

The NPD Practitioner interacts with learners to contribute to nursing professional development processes and ensures the achievement of measurable outcomes. They influence professional role competence and growth of learners in various settings.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Create, plan, implement, and coordinate orientation programs for new nurses.
  • Monitor and report compliance with required documentation for orientation.
  • Evaluate unit/department orientation process based on healthcare trends, learning needs, and organizational goals.
  • Provide resource support for clinical inquiry, including identification of potential projects, and/or subject matter expertise.
  • Demonstrate a spirit of inquiry to support professional curiosity, including research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assist staff to identify areas for individual growth, including opportunities for advancement.
  • Offer resources for role transition and promote certification and advanced formal education.
  • Design engaging, interactive educational activities/plans rooted in adult learning principles; implement and coordinate activities related to clinical practice and lifelong career development.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Two years of nursing experience
  • Current, valid Florida State of Nursing license as a registered professional nurse
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certification
  • Advanced Life Support Provider Certification, per specialty
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

  • Ability to create effective orientation programs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with quality improvement initiatives
