Key Responsibilities

The Medical Affairs Advisor plays a pivotal role in fostering strategic relationships between the organization and medical experts/key opinion leaders in the field of ophthalmology and optometry. This position serves as a vital link, facilitating scientific exchange and insights to inform product development, market access, and clinical practice.

Primary duties include:

  • Developing and maintaining peer-to-peer relationships with key opinion leaders and decision-makers to expand evidence generation through scientific partnerships and gain their advocacy.
  • Providing up-to-date medical support on device-related issues to educate, diagnose, resolve, and escalate to local or regional Medical Affairs as necessary.
  • Liaising with potential researchers and the organization to develop and execute Investigator Initiated Trials (IITs) from inception to publication.
Education and Experience

To be successful in this role, candidates must possess:

  • A strong background in ophthalmology or optometry, including advanced knowledge of eye diseases and surgical procedures.
  • At least 5 years of experience in an ophthalmology or optometry field, with a minimum of 2 years in the ophthalmic industry or clinical practice.
  • Experience in a healthcare professional-facing role, with a working knowledge of the healthcare system and research procedures.
Key Qualifications

Candidates should have:

  • Essential knowledge of clinical trial design, product development, regulatory requirements, payer landscape, and life cycle management.
  • Proven ability to develop and foster credible relationships with medical experts/decision-makers.
