The role of a Neonatal Nurse involves delivering high-standard, patient-centered care to newborns and their families.
This position requires a skilled and compassionate professional who can fulfill the key responsibilities outlined below:
Key Responsibilities:- Provide evidence-based care to facilitate optimal health outcomes for patients, adhering to the Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health Award) – Generic Level Statements (GLS) Nurse Grade 5 standards.
- Maintain current knowledge and competence within the scope of the position, ensuring practice is aligned with the code of ethics, professional standards, and legislation affecting nursing.
- Apply clinical nursing expertise to deliver high-standard care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Respond appropriately to sudden changes in patient health status, utilizing comprehensive assessment and intervention skills.
- Provide education to patients and their families to facilitate learning and promote independence.
All staff are expected to contribute to the health equity agenda by supporting actions that meet the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This includes eliminating racial discrimination and institutional racism, increasing access to healthcare, addressing social, cultural, and economic determinants of health, delivering culturally safe and responsive services, and collaborating with Indigenous communities and organizations.
