Digital Preservation Expert
About the Role:The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining expert knowledge of legacy and forensic hardware and software systems to analyze and identify data types, file formats, and their dependencies.
Key Responsibilities:- Maintain and develop expert knowledge of digital preservation best practices, techniques, and tools.
- Conduct research and complex problem-solving to provide expert advice in the technical assessment, extraction, migration, and/or emulation of digital collections.
- Develop and implement ingest and migration workflows, including writing and executing simple scripts in accordance with application development standards.
- Prepare reports documenting digital preservation decisions and contribute to the continuous improvement of business rules, procedures, and policies for acquiring, managing, and preserving digital collections.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop procedures and workflows for the ongoing stewardship of digital heritage collections.
- Support the development of digital preservation capacity by identifying needs and opportunities and contributing to training programs.
- Maintain strong working relationships with business units, vendors, and key stakeholders.
- Stay current with emerging developments in digital preservation theory and practice through self-directed reading and professional networks.
