Job Title: Operations Director - Health and Safety

This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the health and safety of all personnel involved in the event.

  • Develop and embed health and safety plans and principles across workforce planning, onboarding, and daily operations.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, codes of practice, and industry standards.
  • Partner with internal teams, contractors, suppliers, and authorities to align safety practices; provide guidance and support to managers, employees, and supplier leads.
  • Conduct risk assessments, audits, and implement hazard controls; lead incident response planning, reporting, and investigations.
  • Deliver accessible health and safety training for staff and volunteers; create clear safety communications, signage, and briefings.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Developing and implementing health and safety strategies to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to promote a culture of safety within the organization.
  • Providing guidance and support to ensure safe working practices.
  • Maintaining accurate records of incidents, hazards, inspections, and corrective actions.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years experience in health and safety roles, preferably in major events, sport or venue operations.
  • Extensive knowledge of Australian health and safety legislation and standards.
  • Proven ability to manage health and safety across diverse and temporary workforces.
  • Excellent communication, training, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Working Arrangements:
  • Full working rights in Australia.
  • Working with children check or state-based equivalent.
  • International Criminal History Record checks for any country where you have resided for 12 months or more in the last 10 years (if applicable).
  • Out of hours and weekend work as required.
