Job Title: Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning Manager

Job Overview:

As a seasoned professional, you will lead the monitoring, evaluation, research and learning (MERL) function to support the strengthening of humanitarian logistics capability.

This role is responsible for governing MERL design and delivery to ensure data and evidence drive program performance and impact.

The position is based in Brisbane on a full-time, two-year fixed-term contract.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop and refine the MERL Framework and Plan, providing strategic direction in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Manage a small team, promoting an inclusive environment that fosters growth and development.
  • Lead the drafting and quality assurance of MERL deliverables, ensuring integration of cross-cutting themes such as GEDSI, greening, localisation, and innovation.
  • Oversee the development and execution of MERL tools and annual work plans.
  • BUILD Partnerships with DFAT, research partners, and stakeholders to achieve shared goals.
  • Design and implement inclusive data collection approaches, using insights to inform future planning and decision-making.
About You / Qualifications:

You possess significant experience in leading teams, delivering fit-for-purpose MERL frameworks, and translating evidence into meaningful program improvements.

  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing MERL frameworks and plans.
  • Proven experience in leading teams and cultivating supportive cultures that promote collaboration and growth.
  • Excellent understanding of DFAT standards and their practical application.
  • Proven understanding and expertise in cross-cutting themes such as GEDSI, greening, localisation, and innovation.
  • Outstanding written skills, including case studies, impact stories, and reports.
  • Cultural and political sensitivity are essential qualities for this role.
