**About the Program**
Palladium International Pty Ltd is the Managing Contractor for the Australian Government's Humanitarian Logistics Capability (HLC). The objective of the Humanitarian Logistics Capability is to facilitate the timely, effective, and flexible delivery of the Australian Government's humanitarian assistance and emergency relief program around the world.
Through the HLC program, Palladium delivers six domains of capability:
- Procurement of humanitarian and emergency relief supplies and equipment
- Storage and handling of pre-positioned supplies and equipment
- Specialised logistics personnel and expertise
- Specialised logistics and transport capabilities with a global reach
- Offshore deployment support services
- Consular crisis management capabilities.
**The Position**
Based at the HLC Project Office in Pinkenba, Brisbane, the Communications Consultant will provide specialist technical expertise to support DFAT Humanitarian Response Operations (HOS) in telling the story of Australia's humanitarian crisis response story through the Humanitarian Logistics Capability investment.
This requires the ability to collaborate and work across Humanitarian Logistics Capability, while ensuring the necessary reputational risk management of the investment through its strategic communications and public diplomacy.
The primary responsibilities of the HLC Communications Consultant can be broadly described as follows:
- Providing specialist technical expertise on the consultation and delivery of communications products across all key domains of the Humanitarian Logistics Capability investment.
- Support external and internal brand and risk management, particularly focused on responding to and resolving communications and public diplomacy sensitivities surrounding the Australian Government and the Humanitarian Logistics Capability investment.
- Support approval processes for communications and public diplomacy products for release.
- Ensure that program communications are consistent with the DFAT and HLC requirements and intent.
- Coordinate or provide support to HLC events as required.
- Ensure that all relevant content complies with DFAT child protection and safeguarding guidelines, including imagery and digital platforms.
With the support of the program's HLC Program staff and working closely with staff from DFAT's Humanitarian and Preparedness Branch (HMB), the Communications Consultant will play a critical role in supporting the Australian Government's humanitarian relief efforts.
**What we are looking for**
We are looking for a dedicated professional with strong writing and editorial abilities and the ability to translate complex information into accessible communications. It will also require a strong commitment to humanitarian principles, a willingness to learn and adapt to rapidly changing situations, whilst collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Experience in writing and content production for a range of audiences, (e.g., news media outlets, private sector, and the general public), preferably in an aid/development context
- Demonstrated experience working with Monitoring and Evaluation functions, data, information etc
- Demonstrated ability to plan, draft, edit and proof-read information to publication standard
- Highly responsive with strong time management skills and an ability to meet tight deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication, liaison and interpersonal skills
- High-level skills in written and spoken English are required and strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work in sensitive situations.
