Dental Assistant Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Dental Assistant to support our dental team in providing high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist dentists with examinations, treatments, and procedures.
  • Prepare exam rooms and instrumentation for optimal efficiency.
  • Expose dental diagnostic x-rays and record treatment information accurately.
  • Provide excellent patient care, including preparing patients, sterilizing instruments, and assisting during procedures.
  • Take and record medical and dental histories, as well as vital signs.
  • Offer postoperative instructions and assist in managing emergencies.
  • Maintain patient flow, stock rooms, and ensure quality controls.
  • Serve as a team member in a patient-centered medical home setting.
Requirements:
  • Completion of a dental assistant training program.
  • Certification as a CDA.
  • Ohio State Dental Radiograph permit.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Knowledge of universal precautions, bloodborne pathogens, and OSHA guidelines.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records.
  • Interpersonal skills, including empathy and respect for diverse backgrounds.
  • Critical thinking and ability to work independently.
  • Teamwork skills and attention to detail.
Working Conditions:
  • Ability to see, communicate, hear, and use electronic devices.
  • Ability to walk, sit, or stand for long periods; lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Work environment can be stressful at times.

Previous experience is not necessary; this is an entry-level position.
