Job Overview

The role of a remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS) technician is pivotal in supporting various research activities, particularly within the Robotics and Autonomous Systems domain.

This position involves collaborating with the team to ensure seamless RPAS operations and data acquisition.

  • Collaborate with team members to maintain RPAS operations and contribute to project success.
  • Perform system integration and conduct fieldwork to enable QUT research projects utilizing robotics platforms, especially RPAS.
  • Fieldwork may occur across Australia, including but not limited to Antarctica and the Great Barrier Reef.

As an ideal candidate, you will possess expertise in maintenance and operation of remotely piloted aircraft systems, including RePL certification from CASA. Additionally, you will demonstrate high-level digital literacy skills, such as proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant equipment-specific software or the ability to quickly acquire these skills.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Support and contribute to the maintenance of RPAS operations and data acquisition.
  2. Perform system integration and conduct fieldwork to enable QUT research projects that utilize robotics platforms, especially RPAS (drones).
  3. Fieldwork can occur anywhere within Australia, including but not limited to Antarctica and the Great Barrier Reef.

In this role, you will work collaboratively with the team to achieve project-based outcomes while embracing and participating in change.

Requirements
  1. Education, training, and/or experience equivalent to a degree with subsequent relevant experience in maintenance and operation of remotely piloted aircraft systems, including holding RePL certification from CASA.
  2. Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and work collaboratively to achieve project-based outcomes while embracing and participating in change.
  3. Demonstrated ability to provide quality client service through contributing to building a safe and caring environment for team members.
  4. Proven ability to analyze, problem-solve, and critically evaluate equipment.
