Family Support Specialist

Mind Australia is seeking a resilient and compassionate Family Support Specialist to provide permanent part-time opportunities in Bendigo.

As a Family Support Specialist, you will work with families and carers of individuals with mental health challenges, utilising your lived expertise and providing solution-focused support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilise your knowledge and abilities gained from lived experiences to support families and carers.
  • Engage with local mental health services and community organisations to identify family/carers and provide early support.
  • Deliver peer-led support through various modalities, including centre-based and outreach services.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Completion of Intentional Peer Support Core and/or Advanced Training or Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work.
  • Lived experience as a family member, carer, or supporter of someone experiencing mental ill-health and/or substance use challenges.
  • Significant experience in using lived experience and expertise in a dedicated family support role.
