Peer Support Specialist

We are seeking two compassionate and resilient individuals to join our team as Peer Support Specialists in the Bendigo area. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will have the opportunity to support families and carers of individuals with mental health challenges using your own lived expertise.

  • You will work closely with families and carers to understand their unique needs and provide tailored support to help them navigate the complexities of mental health.
  • Develop strong relationships with your clients, building trust and empathy through active listening and open communication.
Key Responsibilities:

Job Description:

  • Deliver solution-focused, peer-led support either one-on-one or via group facilitation, where required.
  • Support your team to understand and deliver services and approaches that are consistent with relational recovery-oriented practice from a peer/lived experience perspective.
Requirements:

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Completion of Intentional Peer Support Core and/or Advanced Training, or Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work, is desirable but not required.
  • Lived or living experience as a family member, carer, or supporter of someone who is experiencing or has experienced mental ill-health and/or substance use challenges and understanding of, and ability and willingness to, contribute this lived expertise in working towards collective organisational impact.
