The Opportunity

Clinical leadership positions require strong interpersonal skills. This job description should be read in conjunction with the selection criteria that outlines the key responsibilities, requirements and duties associated with this role.
Key duties will include:
- Strategic leadership – Set and deliver business strategy, aligning publishing activity with organisational direction.
- Business transformation – Lead the transition to sustainable open access models and implement commissioning strategies for books and journals.
- Commercial management – Drive commercial success, managing multi-million-dollar budgets with P&L responsibility.
- Team and operations leadership – Lead and develop high-performing teams, fostering innovation and continuous improvement.
- Stakeholder engagement – Build relationships across the scholarly publishing ecosystem and position the organisation as a leader in science communication.
- Organisational contribution – Participate in the Science Connect Leadership Team and contribute to broader organisational strategy and policy development.
Requirements:
- Deep knowledge and experience in the publishing industry, with a proven record of success in senior leadership roles.
- Demonstrated strategic leadership capability, including planning and implementing strategy.
- Strong commercial acumen and financial management experience.
- A track record of transformational leadership and change implementation.
- Proven ability to lead high-performing teams through change.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Science or Business.
