Job Overview

The Shift Operations Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of a facility during assigned shifts. This position is responsible for ensuring that all tasks and responsibilities are carried out efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct and manage the duties and responsibilities of shelter staff as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide updated documentation at the end of each shift.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels to meet operational needs.
  • Assign Monitor Staff specific duties to support residents and operations.
  • Intervene in disputes between clients and/or staff, documenting incidents accurately.
  • Prepare daily shift reports and submit relevant documentation.
  • Conduct bi-annual performance evaluations for monitor staff.
  • Manage records and documentation for outside volunteers and stipend workers.
  • In consultation with senior management, substitute Monitor Staff when necessary.
  • Assume operations management in the absence of regular shift supervisors and directors.
  • Provide after-hours technical support for MIS systems.
  • Act as liaison for partner agencies, including law enforcement and social services organizations.
  • Coordinate shelter overflow, addressing staffing, transportation, supply, and placement needs.
  • Implement COA standards and strive for quality improvements.
  • Support transportation coordination, vehicle maintenance, and documentation collection.
Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five or more years' experience working with vulnerable populations.
  • Knowledge or experience in the Social Service field is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in computer software, including Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Operational knowledge of HOPE system and Community Service Database an asset.
