About the Role

This volunteer opportunity provides an outlet for compassionate individuals to make a positive impact in the lives of young people experiencing hardship.

The role offers valuable skills and experiences, allowing volunteers to gain knowledge in areas such as youth work, community development, and social inclusion.

  • Serve hot meals and provide access to toilets and showers.
  • Connect with relevant services through information and referral.
  • Engage with young people and other volunteers informally and through activities run from the space.

  • Maintain professional boundaries with young people both within and outside night cafe hours.
  • Learn about issues affecting young people, including mental illness, homelessness, and drug and alcohol abuse.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

  • Be able to commit to at least one shift per fortnight on a regular basis (Tuesday and Thursday evenings).
  • Have good conversational skills and the ability to relate to and empathise with a broad range of people.
  • Hold or apply for a Working With Children Check or Working With Vulnerable People Check depending on your State/Territory.
