Intellectual Property Lawyer Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Intellectual Property Lawyer to join our experienced team. As a key member of our IP department, you will be providing expert advice and services in the transactional IP area, reporting directly to our Special Counsel.

Your primary focus will be on advising clients on and drafting various types of agreements related to intellectual property rights, including trade marks, designs, patents, copyright, and plant breeders' rights.

We work closely with clients involved in creating and exploiting valuable intellectual property rights, and our transactional IP services play a significant role in helping them commercialise their IP.

Main Areas of Responsibility:
  • Providing timely and accurate advice to clients on protecting and commercialising their intellectual property rights.
  • Offering guidance on confidential information and drafting confidentiality agreements, particularly those relating to intellectual property rights.
  • Contribute to marketing and business development strategies for the commercial function.
  • Draft, negotiate, and advise on various agreements related to developing and commercialising intellectual property, such as IP licences, assignments, manufacturing/distribution agreements, and sale/purchase of IP agreements.
  • Prepare documentation acceptable to IP Australia and undertake related IP work, including due diligence and Australian Consumer Law advice.
You Will Bring:
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in intellectual property, technology, or general commercial contracts.
  • Exposure and knowledge of contract, commercial, and intellectual property law.
  • Desirable: experience in intellectual property transactions.
  • A passion for challenging and interesting work and helping others commercialise their intellectual property.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with our IP litigators and patent/trademark attorneys.
  • Stakeholder management and client relationship skills are desirable.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for all aspects of intellectual property.
