You are invited to apply for a challenging role as a Civil Lawyer with Aboriginal And Torres Strait Islander Legal Service. This position offers the chance to work in a dynamic environment, providing expert casework assistance and information directly to clients, and to external stakeholders about client matters.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, using, and evaluating culturally safe resources and practices for the delivery of effective legal services. Key objectives include improving the health and well-being of clients of the Health Justice Partnership, achieving better justice and health outcomes for patients of Kambu's clinics at Ipswich and Laidley, and improving understanding and awareness among staff from ATSILS and Kambu about health and legal issues, and the intersectionality of both, experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This opportunity is ideal for a motivated lawyer who has experience (or an in-depth understanding) of high-level client services in Civil Law proceedings. The ideal candidate will have an in-depth working knowledge of key legislation, practices, and procedures across a range of legislation, including Succession Act. Additionally, they will possess sound interpersonal and communication skills, enabling them to compassionately convey sound information or advice to clients, and to present casework documents, relevant statistical reports, and applications in concise, plain language using computer technology.
Key selection criteria include alignment to the values and vision of ATSILS, admission as a Legal Practitioner within the State of Queensland, and experience in Domestic Violence applications, Litigation, Anti-discrimination matters, Workplace Relations, Wills and Estates, Administrative Law, and Consumer Law/Protection.
The salary for this role is approximately $80,000 per annum, depending on experience, location, and other factors. This figure is based on industry standards and the cost of living in Ipswich.
