About the Role

As a Senior Analyst in our Finance Division, you'll play a critical role in delivering management reporting results and analysis for our Challenger Life business. You'll work closely with key stakeholders across the Group, including the CEO, CFO, and other senior executives.

You'll be responsible for creating the normalised profit result, analysing variances to budget, monthly P&L and balance sheet analysis, and quarterly and semi-annual ASX and market disclosures. You'll also analyse and explain P&L and balance sheet movements across our full suite of financial assets: fixed income, property, alternatives, equities, and infrastructure portfolios.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create the normalised profit result, analysing variances to budget, monthly P&L and balance sheet analysis, and quarterly and semi-annual ASX and market disclosures.
  • Analyse and explain P&L and balance sheet movements across our full suite of financial assets: fixed income, property, alternatives, equities, and infrastructure portfolios.
  • Understand and report on fixed income attribution- FX, interest rates, credit spread etc.
  • Understand new transactions and systems and assess their impact on the team.
  • Work closely with the wider Business Performance teams to deliver performance reports, analyst information, budgets as well as ad-hoc analysis.
  • Preparation and posting of journals into the general ledger (Workday) for application of Challenger's management reporting framework.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • An analytical background with at least 3-5 years relevant experience within banking, financial services, and/or investment management in an analyst type role.
  • Critical thinking and analytical mind-set with a history of breaking down problems, finding key issues, and resolving with a range of different options.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to help communicate complex data in a concise and clear manner to your wider team and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of financial products (e.g., fixed income/equities/bonds).
  • Desire to and experience of working in a collaborative team environment.
