The Hypersonics and Rocketry Group is a flagship team within the university, hosting Australia's only long-duration hypersonic wind tunnel. The group has experienced substantial growth, winning competitive grants and forming international collaborations and partnerships.

We seek an expert to join the 'Integrated design of supersonic vehicles via numerical optimization and co-design methods' project as an Advanced Hypersonic Vehicle Designer.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Simulation of high-speed flows, aero-thermodynamics, radiation, multi-physics, and other phenomena.
  • Development of simulation codes, models, and optimisation algorithms.
  • Design and mission evaluation of hypersonic vehicle concepts.
  • Simulation of dynamic systems including high-speed vehicles.

**Requirements:**

  • Qualifications in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a relevant discipline.
  • Professional experience or deep knowledge in analysis/simulation of high-speed (compressible) flows, high-speed flows, advanced use/development of multi-physics simulation codes, optimisation/co-design methods.
  • High-level oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, relating well to people at all levels using diplomacy, tact, and sound judgment.

Australian Citizenship is mandatory for this project, and you must be eligible to apply, obtain, and maintain necessary security clearances, including NV1 security clearance.

**Note:** This position requires expertise in simulating high-speed flows and designing hypersonic vehicles.
