Tumut Region Forest Road Operations

We are seeking skilled and motivated individuals to join our roading team in the Tumut Region. This role contributes to the wider team through construction and maintenance of strategic road networks, ensuring timber products are moved safely and timely from the forest to customers delivery points.

This position plays a vital role in supporting a large forest industry by engaging in hands-on manual labor, working with heavy plant under general direction on various forest road operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain roads and trails, including fire trail networks, to support forest industry operations.
  • Perform daily pre-start inspections on heavy plant equipment and report any maintenance requirements.
  • Assist with road construction and maintenance techniques, installation of road drainage structures, and quality control.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience in operating heavy plant machinery safely and in compliance with safety standards.
  • Current Heavy Rigid Driver's Licence (Heavy Combination desirable).
  • Ability to undertake physical labour, fire standby, fire suppression, hazard reduction activities, and maintain sufficient fitness for the job.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills with ability to work independently for short periods.
