
Risk Analyst Catastrophe Modelling Specialist

Job Overview
We're seeking a research professional to join our team in the field of catastrophe modelling. This role involves working with external vendors, evaluating their models using our portfolios and internal processes.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, preferably in mathematics or statistics, and experience in catastrophe modelling, risk analysis, or a related field.
In this position, you'll work on various projects, including model evaluations, research and development, and data analysis. Your findings will be presented to stakeholders, including divisional teams, and you'll collaborate with global partners on large-scale projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate catastrophe models from external vendors using QBE portfolios and a defined internal process.
- Conduct research and development projects on catastrophe and climate risk, integrating findings into modelling processes.
- Participate in global projects in collaboration with our internal and external partners.
- Analyse model components to assess their appropriateness and impact.
- Present findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders, including divisional teams.
- Support ad hoc tasks such as catastrophe event response and data analysis.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or higher degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Natural Hazards, Geophysics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in catastrophe modelling tools (e.g. RMS, AIR) and programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL.
- Demonstrated experience in catastrophe modelling, risk analysis, or a related field.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical findings to diverse audiences.
