Conservation Volunteer Opportunity in New Zealand

This role is designed for individuals who want to make a positive impact on the conservation of New Zealand's unique flora and fauna. As a volunteer, you will assist with various activities including:

  • Creating trails to access remote areas
  • Protecting native species from invasive predators
  • Planting native trees to support biodiversity
  • Monitoring pest numbers to inform conservation efforts

Through this work, you will gain hands-on experience in conservation and monitoring techniques, as well as learn about sustainability and living off-grid.

The sanctuary is located in the cloud-forest of Tutamoe Peak in Northland, New Zealand. We collaborate closely with local conservation authorities to protect and monitor wildlife in different forests, each with its unique characteristics.

Volunteer Experience

As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to observe endangered species in their natural habitat and explore areas closed to the general public. You will also be involved in daily maintenance tasks and activities such as chopping wood and maintaining tools.

Each day allows for leisure activities and self-discovery. Your typical day will include breakfast, clean-up, morning work activities, lunch, afternoon work activities, free time, dinner, and leisure activities like sunset watching or playing soccer.

Monday is a free day, which you can use to relax or explore the surrounding area. Once a week, we will head out to explore some of the sights of the Kauri Coast and go on a night safari looking for kiwi in the forest.

Requirements and Qualifications
