Job Overview

This role provides an opportunity to contribute as a Health Specialist in an injury prevention and management context. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise in fitness for work, rehabilitation and return to work processes.

About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated health professional with strong communication and critical thinking skills. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a large complex environment within mining or heavy industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate case management activities with workers' compensation providers, medical and allied health professionals, and stakeholders.
  • Support regulatory health surveillance activities and reporting, and the delivery of health promotion initiatives.
  • Lead behavioural-based field observations, providing support and technical guidance underpinned by a culture of care.
  • Maintain health enterprise systems (e.g. Cority), ensuring data integrity and document management.
  • Collaborate with site medical services, including paramedics, EAP, physiotherapy, appointed medical advisers, and occupational physicians.
About You
  • A bachelor's degree in a health-related discipline, with APHRA or ESSA registration or equivalent.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage, influence, and coach varied levels of stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Ideal experience working in a large complex environment within mining or heavy industry, with underground operational experience preferred.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Working knowledge of Queensland workers' compensation process and RRTWC course completion.
  • Knowledge of QLD coal mining health and safety legislation.
  • Familiarity with basic principles in occupational hygiene and membership of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists (AIOH) is advantageous.
