Deliver Strategic Procurement at Melbourne Airport

Melbourne Airport is seeking a skilled Category Manager to drive innovation and value across key categories in a dynamic and impactful role. As a Category Manager, you will be responsible for developing and delivering high-impact category plans and sourcing strategies across key portfolios, including professional services, finance, HR, and more.

You will manage the entire sourcing lifecycle, from market strategy to supplier performance reviews, while collaborating across the business to ensure efficiency, innovation, and value for money. With a focus on risk mitigation, supplier relationship management, and financial integration, this role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage key Procurement Market Engagements, covering active, planned, and awarded contracts.
  • Lead quarterly Category Review meetings with key stakeholders, documenting discussions and action items.
  • Create and implement Go-to-Market Strategies for major market engagements, ensuring senior management approval.
  • Execute market engagements as outlined in category plans, meeting agreed timelines and objectives.
  • Track and document procurement value, including cost savings, cost avoidance, new revenue streams, and innovation in the Procurement Value Tracker.
  • Conduct Procurement Surveys post-engagement to gather feedback from key stakeholders.
  • Continuously contribute to refining and enhancing procurement policies, processes, and guidelines.

Requirements:

  • Degree-qualified with significant experience in a category management, strategic sourcing or procurement role.
  • Experience across a diverse range of spend categories supporting multiple stakeholder groups in a complex operating environment.
  • The ability to drive progress and lead sourcing processes to tight time frames.
  • Strong commercial, contractual and business knowledge.
  • Great communication and negotiation skills.
  • Someone who actively questions and challenges the status quo to drive ongoing process improvement and superior commercial outcomes.
