About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Category Manager to join our team at Melbourne Airport. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for driving strategic procurement initiatives and delivering high-impact category plans across key portfolios.

Key Responsibilities
  • Category Planning and Development: Develop and implement category plans that align with our business objectives, ensuring strategic sourcing and procurement excellence.
  • Market Engagement and Sourcing: Lead market engagements, develop go-to-market strategies, and execute sourcing processes to meet agreed timelines and objectives.
  • Procurement Value Tracking and Reporting: Monitor and document procurement value, including cost savings, cost avoidance, new revenue streams, and innovation in our Procurement Value Tracker.
  • Stakeholder Management and Communication: Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure effective communication and alignment on procurement strategies and initiatives.
  • Process Improvement and Development: Continuously contribute to refining and enhancing procurement policies, processes, and guidelines, and lead the development of new procurement platforms to streamline operations.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Degree-qualified with significant experience in category management, strategic sourcing, or procurement.
  • Commercial and Contractual Knowledge: Strong commercial, contractual, and business knowledge, with the ability to drive progress and lead sourcing processes to tight time frames.
  • Communication and Negotiation Skills: Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to actively question and challenge the status quo to drive ongoing process improvement and superior commercial outcomes.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Proven ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives.
