
Violence Prevention Specialist

Our organisation is seeking a compassionate and resilient Specialist Family Violence Practitioner to join their team.
This role presents an opportunity to be part of a movement dedicated to safety, dignity, and empowerment.
The Specialist Family Violence Practitioner will work directly with women and children experiencing or at risk of family violence, providing immediate responses, safety planning, crisis support and referrals in both community settings and crisis accommodation.
The practitioner will work from a feminist and trauma-informed perspective, offering hope, support, and a path forward.
- Respond promptly to referrals and provide outreach support in community and crisis settings.
- Conduct assessments, deliver crisis interventions, and develop collaborative case plans.
- Connect clients with holistic, culturally appropriate services and community supports.
- Maintain accurate, confidential records to ensure continuity of care.
- Advocate for client safety and well-being, while identifying service gaps for improvement.
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Tertiary qualification in Social Work (or equivalent) – essential.
- Experience in family violence or child wellbeing work – highly desirable.
- Strong crisis intervention skills and a calm, empathetic approach.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Knowledge of family violence frameworks and child protection principles.
- Commitment to culturally safe, inclusive, and trauma-informed practice.
- A current and valid Employee Working with Children’s Check.
- A current full VIC Driver’s Licence.
