About the Role

The New Zealand Defence Force is seeking a skilled Defence Engineer Officer to join our team. As a Defence Engineer Officer, you will be responsible for leading a team of technicians in the maintenance and repair of sophisticated equipment that provides our Navy's fighting capability.

You will be an expert in the Navy's weapon, communication, sensor, and combat management systems. Your leadership and communication skills will be essential in a multi-disciplinary environment, and you will be a logical thinker who works well with people and seeks a challenging work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of technicians in the maintenance and repair of equipment
  • Be an expert in the Navy's weapon, communication, sensor, and combat management systems
  • Develop and implement effective maintenance and repair strategies
  • Collaborate with other teams to achieve the ship's objectives

Career Progression and Training

As a Defence Engineer Officer, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge through various training programs and courses. You will be sponsored to complete a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) or a Bachelor of Engineering Technology degree, and you will have the opportunity to complete a Master's degree and become a Chartered Engineer.
