Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Field Engineer to join our team at Bechtel Corporation. As a key member of our project team, you will be responsible for providing project field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and subcontract coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement construction methods and procedures to ensure safe and efficient project execution.
  • Initiate requisitions for field purchases and perform material receipt inspections to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Prepare quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment to ensure accurate tracking and management.
  • Verify commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required to ensure data accuracy.
  • Ensure zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
  • Develop a firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development to ensure accurate project execution.

Requirements:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
  • Oil & Gas or LNG Project construction experience assigned as a Field Engineer.

Preferred Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and experience on Australian Codes & Standards for Structural Steel Installation.
  • Knowledge of Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs) – Teamworks, Unifier, Cornerstone, SteelSlayer, DSCS.
  • Excellent problem-solving ability.

Additional Information:

This position has responsibilities that include exposure to changing environmental, construction, and operational conditions, which may include: extensive walking in and around an active construction and/or operations site, climbing ladders, working at heights from work platforms including scaffolding, and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), use of personal fall arrest equipment, walking and working on uneven surfaces, working in constricted and/or confined spaces, variable work shifts (e.g., day, night, weekends, 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, etc.), and work in inclement weather. Some lifting may be required. Candidate must be able to use standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. respirator, harness, life vest, hearing protection, etc.).

The Pluto Train 2 Project is a Major Hazard Facility meaning this is a non-smoking site and no tobacco products – i.e. cigarettes, vapes, lighters, tobacco - are permitted to be brought to the site.
