About the Role

The Coordinator, Communications and Events will play a key role in supporting the communications and events requirements of the Office of Indigenous Education and Engagement at RMIT University. This position will be responsible for coordinating internal and external communications, marketing, and liaison with internal and external groups on all communications, including the Deadly alumni initiative. The role will also coordinate event activities and manage database requirements where needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate internal and external communications, marketing, and liaison with internal and external groups
  • Lead and initiate activities to ensure effective and impactful communication and engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and communities
  • Coordinate event activities and manage database requirements
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide support and guidance to teams as needed
Requirements
  • Evidence of community connectedness and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and organisations
  • Experience or training in a customer-focused environment and the ability to develop rapport with staff, students, and the community
  • Ability to organise and prioritise tasks, show initiative and judgement, and work to deadlines
  • Ability to work co-operatively and flexibly as a member of a team
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, as well as proven strong computer literacy
  • Experience and training in communications and event management
Desirable
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or an equivalent level of expertise
