About the Role

The role of a Court Coordinator is pivotal in providing quality court services to young people and their families/carers.

This position requires a highly skilled and experienced professional who can undertake comprehensive pre-court preparation, including conducting and assisting others to conduct necessary pre-court interviews.

Key responsibilities include conducting assessments of risk factors, identifying early intervention opportunities, making appropriate referrals, and formulating confident court submissions.

The successful candidate will liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure quality court services and further quality outcomes/actions for young people and their families/carers.

A post-court advice service will also be provided to young people, families/carers, stakeholders, and relevant youth justice staff.

Maintaining office systems and contributing to the development of new systems in relation to court matters are essential duties of this role.

The ideal candidate will possess a tertiary degree relevant to the role such as social work, behavioural science or social science, criminology, or other recognised degree.

Effective communication/engagement skills, counselling, and practice at micro and macro levels are crucial for success in this position.

Working within a case management framework and knowledge of theoretical frameworks i.e., strengths-based practice, empowerment, systems, crisis intervention, social development, child development, family dynamics are essential requirements.

Familiarity with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and the issues related to their cultures over-representation in the youth justice and child protection systems is highly desirable.
