About This Role

This is a leadership opportunity to oversee travel and accommodation arrangements for site-based crews. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating logistics, managing team performance, and fostering relationships with internal teams and external service providers.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Team Coordination:
    • Guide and direct a team of Travel Officers, providing direction, training, and support to ensure they have the skills and knowledge required to perform their duties effectively.
    • Monitor team performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement changes to optimize workflow and productivity.
  • Logistics Operations:
    • Manage end-to-end crew travel arrangements, including flight manifests, camp allocations, and bus rosters to ensure timely and cost-effective solutions.
    • Respond to travel disruptions, booking conflicts, or delays by working closely with team members and external partners to resolve issues promptly.
    • Act as the primary escalation point during critical changeover periods, providing guidance and support to the team to ensure smooth operations.
  • Communication & Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Build and maintain relationships with internal teams (HR, Finance, and site leaders) and external service providers to foster open communication and collaboration.
    • Maintain clear and timely communication on crew logistics, handle queries effectively, and provide updates on travel arrangements and other relevant information.
  • Operational Efficiency:
    • Implement standard operating procedures (SOPs), tools, and flowcharts for efficient workflows to minimize errors and improve productivity.
    • Identify areas for process improvement, including sustainable logistics solutions and technology integration to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Financial Responsibility:
    • Support cost-effective travel and accommodation decisions by analyzing options, considering budget implications, and implementing measures to minimize expenses.
    • Maintain accurate records of logistics costs to ensure proper attribution and inform future decision-making.

 

Requirements and Qualifications

We are seeking a highly organized and skilled professional with a strong background in logistics or site services, preferably with experience supervising small teams. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a calm approach under pressure, and proficiency in essential systems and tools.

 

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will hold a Certificate IV in Business, Logistics, or Project Management (desirable). At least 3 years of experience in logistics, site services, or coordination is required, ideally in FIFO or mining environments. Proven experience in supervising or mentoring small teams is essential.

 

Desirable Skills and Knowledge

The ideal candidate will be a confident communicator across diverse teams and external vendors. They will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to stay calm under pressure. Proficiency in systems and tools (e.g., Excel, Outlook, roster planners, booking platforms) is also desired.
