About the Role

The Assistant Director - Zone Operations and Coordination is a key position within the APS, responsible for managing allocated resources, setting work area priorities, and developing strategies to achieve business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage and lead a team, providing clear and consistent communication, setting performance and behavioural standards, and guiding and developing team members.
  2. Accountable for accurate completion of work within timeframes and quality requirements, sharing expertise with others and guiding and mentoring less experienced employees.
  3. Perform complex to very complex procedural, operational, administrative, and business management activities to support the delivery of outcomes across Defence.
  4. Engage and negotiate with stakeholders on complex to very complex issues to influence and achieve business outcomes.
  5. Work collaboratively, build and sustain effective relationships, motivate and provide constructive feedback to the team and work area.
  6. Assess and evaluate administrative, business, corporate, and policy initiatives, identify issues, and implement appropriate procedures and work practices.
Requirements
  1. Demonstrated experience in team management in a service delivery environment.
  2. Demonstrated ability to think critically, identify issues, and deliver continuous improvement activities.
  3. Highly developed communication, organisation, and negotiation skills.
  4. Exceptional stakeholder engagement and liaison skills.
  5. Experience in working collaboratively across large and dispersed teams.
  6. Demonstrated experience in influencing the delivery of organisational change in a positive manner.
