The role of the General Surgery Fellow is to participate in the provision, development, and maintenance of an effective, efficient, and equitable clinical service to hospital clients under the supervision of consultant surgeons.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in the daily care of acute surgical patients and the emergency operating theatre when scheduled.
- Involved in Breast Clinic, MDT, and Breast & Endocrine Surgery operating lists.
- Take part in a 24-hour on call roster as the first point of contact, supported by a rostered-on call consultant.
- We are looking for someone who can demonstrate excellent communication skills, commitment to ongoing educational activities, sound theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and ethical behaviour required of a medical practitioner.
- You must also be able to comply with contemporary human resource management practices, including workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity, and anti-discrimination policies.
- Demonstrated honesty, integrity, and respect for all patients, carers, and staff is essential.
- Fellowship in General Surgery with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) or recognised equivalent as determined by RACS is mandatory.
- MBBS or equivalent qualification registrable with the Medical Board of Australia is required.
- Specialist Registration in General Surgery with the Medical Board of Australia at the commencement of employment is necessary.
- Vaccination against certain vaccine preventable diseases as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16 is mandatory.
