Job Opportunity

The position of Senior Medical Officer is available in one of our rural hospitals. The successful applicant will work independently with a broad scope of practice.

About the Role

The successful applicant will be required to provide high-level in-patient and emergency medicine care, despite limited onsite investigations available. The positions will be based at one of the rural hospitals and the successful applicant will also provide backfill at the other three rural hospitals when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing excellent clinical care to their community as a Rural Medical Officer
  • Delivering quality care to inpatients, outpatients, Emergency Department clients across a variety of acuity and care needs.
  • Knowledge and practical application of the National Quality & Safety Standards through the delivery of Safe and Quality focussed Patient centred care.
  • Excellent communication and team work skills across a variety of settings including in an emergency

Mandatory Requirements

  • Possession of Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) +/- FARGP or Fellowship with the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM)
  • Vaccinated against certain vaccine preventable diseases as outlined in the Health Employment Directive
