Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Instrument Technician to oversee daily operations in the Central Sterilising Services Department. This permanent full-time position involves managing surgical instrument processing, educating and assessing staff, ensuring quality assurance and patient safety.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day activities in CSSD
  • Supervise and guide CSSD staff to ensure quality standards
  • Train and mentor new staff and recently graduated Instrument Technicians
  • Develop and implement education programs for Instrument Technicians
  • Conduct competency assessments for Grade 1–4 Instrument Technicians
  • Coordinate training sessions and in-service education
  • Participate in performance appraisal process
  • Maintain safe working practices and assist in rostering
  • Provide expertise on sterilisation procedures and infection control
  • Improve stock levels and contribute to quality improvement initiatives
Requirements:
  • Certificate IV in Sterilisation Services or equivalent qualification
  • More than four years' experience as an Instrument Technician with extensive knowledge of surgical instrumentation
  • Extensive knowledge of sterilisation procedures and best practices
