Purpose and Scope

To drive quality outcomes for clients and empower engineering teams by providing capabilities focused on the supportability and reliability of client software. This role ensures seamless collaboration between engineering and operational teams to deliver end-to-end product engineering solutions.

Key Accountabilities
  1. Identify and eliminate operational toils, developing solutions to improve software reliability.
  2. Enhance the reliability, availability, quality, and deployment frequency of client products.
  3. Design and build software and systems to manage platform infrastructure and applications.
  4. Monitor and optimize production applications, improving the overall lifecycle of reliability services.
  5. Coach and mentor SRE team members to ensure knowledge sharing and skill development.
  6. Collaborate with engineering/product teams to define and align SLIs/SLOs with business needs and troubleshoot application and infrastructure issues.
  7. Optimize on-call and escalation processes as part of an incident management system.
  8. Continuously seek innovative solutions to improve processes and stay ahead of technology trends.
Core Skills and Knowledge
  1. Proficiency in modern software and technology, including CI/CD processes and tools like BuildKite, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
  2. Experience in at least one programming language, such as Java, Golang, C#, etc.
  3. Strong scripting skills in Bash and/or Python.
  4. Expertise in AWS services, including VPC, EC2, S3, RDS, ECS, etc.
  5. Knowledge of IaC patterns and tools like Terraform/CloudFormation.
  6. Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible/Chef/Puppet.
  7. Expertise in Docker container management and orchestration, including ECS, AKS, EKS, GKE, or native Kubernetes.
  8. Understanding of databases, such as Postgres, SQL Server, Oracle, or NoSQL DBs.
  9. Experience with application monitoring tools like Datadog, New Relic, Dynatrace, or AppDynamics.
  10. Ability to define SLIs that align with team objectives for availability and latency.
  11. Knowledge of engineering practices, including availability, reliability, scalability, and disaster recovery.
  12. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate effectively with all levels of people.
  13. Ability to create a sense of ownership and engagement among team members.
  14. Confidence in acting quickly and decisively, with the ability to define delivery plans and propose supporting budgets.
  15. Empathy and effective decision-making skills, with the ability to lead and engage remote teams.
  16. Proven ability to navigate ambiguity and collaborate with other functional leaders to achieve great outcomes.
