Job Title: Senior Collections Officer

At Shift, we're dedicated to helping Australian SMEs manage their cashflow and trade terms. As a Senior Collections Officer, you'll play a crucial role in negotiating payment plans, managing overdue accounts, and ensuring compliance with debt collection laws.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Negotiate payment plans with customers to bring overdue accounts back into good standing.
  • Employ skip tracing techniques to locate customers and conduct thorough reviews of accounts to determine the best course of action for recovery.
  • Assess when accounts should be escalated to external solicitors or collection agencies for legal action and prepare supporting documentation.
  • Evaluate and manage financial hardship cases, conducting Statements of Financial Position and determining the best solutions for both the customer and the business.
  • Handle administrative tasks related to accounts under liquidation or bankruptcy and be the first point of contact for escalated cases.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to provide guidance on challenging accounts and maintain accurate and detailed records of customer interactions.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in collections, ideally within the finance industry.
  • Solid understanding of collections processes and strong communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage challenging situations professionally.
  • Strong written skills for documentation and reporting, as well as analytical skills to assess payment histories and financial data.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accurate records and compliance, with knowledge of government regulations and industry guidelines.
