Job Description

The Pharmacist plays a vital role in the day-to-day operational duties associated with the dispensing of prescription medication. This includes adhering to quality and customer service standards, policies, and procedures, as well as state and federal guidelines.

The individual must be responsible for verifying the completeness and accuracy of all new and refill labels and orders. Additionally, they will need to check for content and accuracy of all medication packaging and labeling including emergency drug kits and IV medications.

  • Maintain resident database to include appropriate current and past medical history, clinical and laboratory data, and concurrent medication (including OTC and home remedies)
  • Assist in proper ordering, handling, receiving, documentation, and storage of controlled substances; assist in maintaining perpetual inventory for schedule II drugs
  • Work with pharmacy technician in reconciling Controlled Substances perpetual inventory as required by management for compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Provide clinical expertise by responding to drug-related questions and concerns initiated by internal staff and external customers
  • Document all communication with physicians, nurses, other members of healthcare team, patients/residents and their family members in the medical record
  • Prepare and/or supervise sterile IV drug products or solutions
  • Provide evening, weekend, and holiday coverage during rotation and as required by management
  • Follow all applicable government regulations including HIPAA
  • Perform other duties as assigned; Job duties may vary depending on business needs
