We are seeking an experienced and passionate individual to join our team as an Asian Elephant Keeper at Monarto Safari Park.

This is a unique opportunity to work with one of the world's most incredible species and contribute directly to their welfare and conservation efforts.

As an Asian Elephant Keeper, you will play a vital role in the daily care, health, and enrichment of our elephants. You'll work closely with these magnificent animals, performing daily husbandry tasks, enrichment activities, and assisting with veterinary care as required.

The position requires demonstrated experience in elephant husbandry (minimum 12 months), a strong commitment to animal welfare and conservation, flexibility to work on a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays, and a proactive attitude and willingness to learn through constructive feedback and critiquing training sessions. A Certificate III in Wildlife and Exhibited Animal Care or equivalent is also required.

This role offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work with Asian elephants and integrate into an experienced and growing team. We're excited to be expanding Monarto Safari Park with a luxury resort, luxury tents, and lodge facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily husbandry tasks, including feeding, cleaning, and health monitoring.
  • Enrichment activities to stimulate natural behaviors.
  • Assisting with veterinary care as required.
  • Educating visitors and supporting conservation messaging.
  • Working within a team on a 7-day rotating roster.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in elephant husbandry (minimum 12 months).
  • Strong commitment to animal welfare and conservation.
  • Flexibility to work on a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn through constructive feedback and critiquing training sessions.
