About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Coordinator Open Space Assets to join our Technical Services department at Randwick City Council.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team in the investigation and development of policies, plans, guides, and designs for open spaces, including the administration of Randwick Cemetery and activities on community land.

You will have the opportunity to utilise your technical expertise, project negotiation skills, and critical thinking abilities to solve complex problems and contribute to exciting projects within an innovative and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the day-to-day operations and functions of the Open Space Assets team within allocated and budgetary constraints.
  • Develop policies, plans, and guidelines to inform and control development and activities on community land.
  • Ensure that all landscape designs and documentation in Council's Capital Works program are prepared and ready for construction within required timeframes, including community consultation.
  • Provide specialist knowledge to advise on technical and operational challenges relating to open space planning and management.
  • Manage consultants to provide specialist services in accordance with agreements.
  • Prepare correspondence and reports as required.
Requirements
  • Tertiary degree in Landscape Architecture or other relevant qualifications and experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in open space management within local government.
  • Experience in leading and motivating small teams.
  • Ability to control several projects simultaneously to ensure resources are managed appropriately.
