Safety Health and Environment Leader

The role of the Safety Health and Environment (SHE) leader is pivotal in championing a positive SHE culture, robust governance, and compliance. This position requires strong leadership skills, effective engagement with stakeholders, and collaboration to drive improved SHE performance.

About the Role

This leadership position is responsible for leading the SHE function for retail and manufacturing operations in South Australia. The SHE team develops and implements the Metcash SHE Strategy and Management System, collaborating with business pillars through a partnership approach. The primary focus of this role is to support the business in implementing the SHE strategy and management system, driving a positive SHE culture, and improving overall SHE performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coach and develop site leaders on SHE engagements, critical risk reviews, incident and injury management, and general safety and health matters.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and continuous improvement of the SHE Management System as required.
  • Support sites to operate within the Metcash SHE Management System, including developing and maintaining SHE documents and ensuring they align with the system frameworks.
  • Participate in or conduct SHE compliance audits as required.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in SHE or a related field such as legal or sciences.
  • An understanding of relevant Australian and New Zealand safety, health, and environmental legislation, including national heavy vehicle legislation and CoR.
  • ICAM investigation training or certification.
  • A sound understanding of warehouse or retail environments.
  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (desired).
