About the Role

A key leadership position has become available within our client's Patent Docketing division, reporting to the Head of Operations. As a seasoned Intellectual Property/Patents administrator/secretary/manager, you will lead a team of 3 in managing the input/changes/maintenance of client and case records and ownership transfers of Australian/NZ patent and designs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the management of the Patent Docketing inbox, ensuring timely and accurate processing of client and case records.
  • Handle clients' enquiries relating to cost estimates, providing clear and concise information.
  • Allocate work and resources, overseeing the performance of your team to ensure effective operation of the docketing function for the firm.
  • Train and mentor new staff, handling any grievances and ensuring a positive team culture.
  • Troubleshoot and solve any system/operations issues, ensuring minimal disruption to the business.
  • Generate relevant reports for internal patent professionals, providing valuable insights and analysis.
  • Filing and reporting patent/design ownership changes, providing confirmation documents to clients/associates.
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.

Requirements
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in intellectual property, including patents, with a solid understanding of the patent operations process.
  • Specific experience with patent docketing, with outstanding communication, people/leadership skills, and proven ability to effectively manage multiple stakeholders.
  • IT/systems savvy, with a proven problem-solving ability.
