About the Role

The Cotton Area Manager is a critical leadership position within Warakirri Asset Management Ltd, responsible for overseeing all designated area cropping activities, including detailed planning, input and production management, agronomy, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure safe operations across the property through the implementation of our Safety Management System.
  • Collaborate with other Cotton Area Managers and the Farm General Manager to plan, prepare, and implement annual cropping plans and budgets, covering activities such as spraying, spreading, paddock preparation, planting, watering, fertilizing, and harvest operations.
  • Lead Assistant Cotton Managers and Farm Hands during paddock preparation, seeding, irrigation, and harvest, including testing, recording, and storage.
  • Work closely with advisors and agronomists to develop agronomic understanding and practices on farm.
  • Report on farm plans, production forecasts, operational progress of infield activities, and inventory control.
  • Develop and implement farm and cropping quarterly strategy plans in collaboration with the farm team.
  • Manage and direct staff to achieve positive outcomes, providing coaching and mentorship as required.
  • Adhere to company policies and safe work procedures.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and work safely, adopt new practices and technology, further develop skills, and collaborate in a team environment.
  • Keen eye for detail while capturing and recording important data in Agworld.
  • Proven background in large-scale Cotton crop production and Irrigation management.
  • Strong financial literacy.
  • Strong track record of effectively managing and inspiring teams, with strong communication skills.
  • Practical skills around machinery repairs and servicing of equipment.
  • Good understanding of irrigation systems and the movement of water around flood and sprinkler irrigation structures.
  • High level of initiative and self-motivation.
  • MC Driver's License or ability to obtain one.
  • Chemical users' certificate or ability to obtain one.
