Job Title

A high-impact Communications Leader is required to spearhead our media and communications initiatives.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Oversee media relations, digital channels, and complex communications activities.
  • Develop strategies to engage diverse communities, utilising data-driven and community-led initiatives.
  • Build collaborative partnerships across the organisation to deliver high-impact engagement campaigns.
  • Manage and protect the Council's brand, ensuring its reputation is upheld.
  • Lead the production of corporate communications materials, ensuring the highest quality and standards are maintained.
  • Support senior leaders in media and communications activities.
  • Drive marketing and communications capability across the organisation, fostering continuous learning.
Requirements:
  • A degree-level qualification in Communications, Marketing, Media, Journalism, Public Relations, Digital Media, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of five years' professional experience in a communications leadership role, ideally within a public sector or local government setting.
  • Extensive media and issues management experience, with a track record of navigating complex and sensitive communication scenarios.
  • Proven ability to lead a team, fostering a positive, collaborative work environment while maintaining high morale and driving performance.
  • Exceptional communication and writing skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling messages across multiple platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience developing strategic communications plans based on in-depth analysis of issues and risks.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and engage with stakeholders at all levels.
