**Position Overview**

The Closing the Gap team is responsible for driving the strategic delivery of the Department of Education's responsibilities under the National Agreement on Closing the Gap.

This role will focus on embedding Priority Reforms into the department's ways of working, establishing robust data governance, and building staff data capability to approach First Nations data in a culturally responsive way.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Maintaining a well-developed understanding of relevant policies, frameworks, and research related to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education and Closing the Gap.
  • Leading initiatives to build organisational capability to manage and use data effectively.
  • Engaging with stakeholders to identify opportunities and facilitate cooperation.

**Requirements**

  • Demonstrated knowledge of issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
