About the Role

Melba Copland Secondary School, a dual campus year 7 to 12 school with rapidly growing enrolments, is seeking a motivated and determined school leader to work as an integral part of the senior executive. The team consists of four deputy principals who lead strategically and operationally. This position is located on the senior campus (years 10 to 12).

Key Responsibilities

  • Co-lead the operational requirements of a growing senior campus for years 10 to 12, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations and effective management of resources.
  • Collaborate with the senior executive to grow the Multi-tiered System of Support Model (MTSS) at MCSS, which includes Flexible Learning and Transition and Careers Education, to provide a comprehensive support framework for students.
  • Lead the implementation of the Project-Based Learning (PBL) framework and trauma-informed practices, promoting a culture of high expectations and student growth through Professional Learning Teams (PLTs) and quality differentiated practices.
  • Strategically lead the wellbeing support processes and case management structures 10-12, ensuring the physical and emotional wellbeing of students.
  • Lead inclusive education philosophies and practices 10-12, promoting a culture of equity and diversity.
  • Work collaboratively across campus with the Wellbeing and Inclusion Deputy Principal 7-9 to establish consistent practices 7-12 and school culture.

Eligibility and Requirements

  • A minimum of 4 years full-time (or equivalent) tertiary study leading to the award of a recognised school teaching qualification.
  • Current professional teaching registration with the ACT Teacher Quality Institute (TQI) or eligibility to obtain TQI.
  • Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration, issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011.
