Job Title: Governance, Legal and Risk Management ProfessionalWe are seeking a seasoned professional to lead our governance, legal and risk management functions. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about delivering excellent outcomes and making a real difference in the community.About the Role:This role requires a high level of expertise in governance, legal and risk management principles and practices. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and improving our governance frameworks, managing internal audit and providing legal oversight.The key responsibilities of this role include:
  • Maintaining and updating our governance policies and procedures.
  • Leading policy review and development, including delegations, insurance oversight and councillor support.
  • Providing strategic advice to senior leaders and managers on governance, risk and compliance matters.
  • Managing resources and budgets to deliver key projects and initiatives.
  • Delivering training and capacity-building programs for staff, councillors and volunteers.
Key Requirements:To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
  • Tertiary qualifications in governance, law or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in governance, legal and risk management, preferably in a local government context.
  • Proven skills in leadership, communication, negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • A strong understanding of local government legislation, regulations and policies.
  • A Class C driver's licence.
